CBI files chargesheet against four accused in case relating to Nido Tania death case

New Delhi, May 2, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a charge sheet against four accused, all residents of Delhi, in a case relating to Nido Tania death case in the Court of ACMM, Saket, Delhi for offences related to culpable homicide, illegal confinement and offences under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
The case was earlier investigated by the Delhi Police, which was subsequently transferred to the CBI on the orders of Govt. of India. It was alleged that Nido Tania, son of a sitting MLA of Arunachal Pradesh, had been assaulted by a group of persons on January 29 this year at Lajpat Nagar, Delhi over a minor issue and he succumbed to his injuries on January 30 this year.  
CBI registered the case on February 28, 2014 and took up the investigation. The investigation revealed that  Nido Tania had allegedly visited Lajpat Nagar along with his 3 friends and had inquired about the directions to the house of a common friend from few persons in Lajpat Nagar.  
They had reached a Paneer shop where he inquired about the location of his friend’s house but was humiliated and laughed at by the accused persons. It was further alleged that  Nido Tania, who was also physically assaulted ultimately succumbed to his injuries on January 30, 2014. His post-mortem was conducted by a panel of Doctors at AIIMS, New Delhi, which concluded that the cause of his death as cerebro pulmonary oedema caused by a blunt weapon.
After thorough investigation, it was revealed that 7 persons including 3 juveniles were involved in the assault on Nido Tania.  A chargesheet against four accused has been filed today.
The proceedings against the 3 juvenile will be carried out by the Juvenile Justice Board in due course.
