CBI arrests joint commissioner of income tax in bribery case

New Delhi/Jalandhar, December 27, 2013: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Range – 2, Thane(Maharashtra) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.3.5 Lakh.
A case was registered against Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range – 2, Thane for demand of Rs.3.5 lakh for giving favourable order in the Assessment of Complainant’s firm.
CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.3.5 lakh. The house search of the accused is in progress.
The arrested accused was produced in the Designated CBI Court, Thane today and was remanded to police custody till December 31, 2013.
