CBI arrests GM of BSNL for accepting bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs

New Delhi, June 28, 2014: In Haryana, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a General Manager of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Karnal (Haryana) for demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.2 lakhs from the complainant.
 A case was registered under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the General Manager (Telecom) Karnal, (A 1981 Batch officer of Indian Telecom Services) on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs.3 lakhs from the complainant, who was serving as a JTO in BSNL at Karnal, for showing favour to him in a departmental inquiry being conducted against him.
CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2 lakhs from the Complainant.
Searches were carried out at the official residence of the accused at Karnal and at his house in New Delhi. A cash to the tune of Rs.6.50 lakhs(approx); gold / jewellery and documents related to property & other investments were recovered.
