CBI arrests enforcement officer of employees provident fund for accepting bribe of Rs.10 lakhs

New Delhi, April 25, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Office (EPFO), MIDC Satpur, Nasik (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10 lakhs from the Complainant (who is a Doctor).
A case was registered based on a complaint U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the accused had demanded Rs.10 lakhs from the complainant who owns a hospital in Nasik Rural in order to reduce EPF assessment for the hospital staff. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs.10 lakhs from the complainant.  Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused.
The arrested accused will be produced today in the Court at Nasik.
