CBI arrests Assistant Garrison Engineer of College of Military Engineering in bribery case

New Delhi/Jalandhar, December 31, 2013: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Garrison Engineer(B/R) in College of Military Engineering (CME), Dapodi, Pune for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.6500/- from the Complainant.
A case was registered U/s 120-B of IPC r/w Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Assistant Garrison Engineer(B/R) and Junior Engineer(B/R), both in the College of Military Engineering (CME), Dapodi, Pune on the allegations that the accused persons demanded 3 % each of Rs.2.16 lacs which the complainant(Contractor) had received as payment against second RAR Bills in respect of the work executed by him in the month of December 2013 as reward. The accused persons threatened the Contractor that if the money is not paid to them, they will not allow him to execute the full contracted work and also put his firm on slow progress list. CBI laid a trap and the Assistant Garrison Engineer (A Major rank Officer) was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.6500/- from the Complainant
Searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of the accused at Pune & Jalandhar Cantt. which yielded a recovery of cash of about Rs.1.44 lakh and some documents which are under scrutiny.
The accused is being produced today before the Special Judge, Pune.
