Chandigarh, August 30, 2025: Former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh today said that the devastating floods have shaken the entire state of Punjab, causing unprecedented damage to life, agriculture, and infrastructure. While almost every region has been affected, the most severe impact extends from Bhoa Assembly to Fazilka, along with Kapurthala district, Tarn Taran, Amritsar.

Crops over thousands of acres have been destroyed, livestock has perished, and rural families have been displaced.

Capt. Amarinder commended the tireless efforts of the Army, NDRF, and state administration teams in carrying out rescue and relief operations under extremely challenging conditions. He appealed to Punjabis across party lines to stand united in this grave hour of crisis.

Capt. Amarinder Singh urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately announce a special relief package for Punjab and to deploy additional central forces to assist in the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation operations.

“Timely assistance is crucial so that affected families and farmers are not left to suffer in silence. Punjab’s economy, already under stress, cannot withstand this scale of destruction without urgent intervention from the Centre,” Capt. Amarinder stated.

He reiterated his commitment to stand with the people of Punjab in this hour of distress and appealed to all social organizations, and citizens to extend maximum cooperation to relief efforts.
