Chandigarh, March 16, 2017: Capt Amarinder Singh, on Thursday, took oath as the chief minister of Punjab at the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh.
The oath of office was administered by Punjab governor, VP Singh Badnore.
It may be mentioned here that the Congress has won 77 seats in the recently held elections held to Punjab assembly.
The swearing-in ceremony among others was attended by former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Navjot Singh Sidhu took oath as a cabinet minister. Earlier, it was being speculated that Sidhu will get the post of deputy CM. However, all these speculations could not materialised probably considering that this step will create resentment among the veteran Congressmen as Sidhu had joined the Congress after leaving BJP only before the assembly elections.
It was a scene worth seen when Sidhu touched the feet of Capt Amarinder Singh as a mark of the respect after being administered the oath as a cabinet minister.
Manpreet Singh Badal, Rana Gurjit Singh, Brahm Mohindra, Razia Sultana and Aruna Chaudhary are included in those who also took over al ministers in Capt Amainder's cabinet.
It may be mentioned here that Capt Amarinder is the 26th chief minister of Punjab.
This is the second term of Capt Amarinder Singh as the chief minister of Punjab.
