Ludhiana, November 21, 2018: Giving further impetus to the state government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ programme, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday formally inaugurated the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises in Ludhiana.

The Bureau would enable eligible job seekers to be gainfully placed, besides facilitating enterprising youth towards self employment ventures. It would also help strengthen the infrastructure of employment generation across the state as these state-of-the-art Bureaus, inaugurated simultaneously across districts today, had replaced the archaic employment exchanges in the state.

Lauding the efforts of the Department of Employment Generation and Training, Captain Amarinder said the new Bureaus would prove to be a milestone in assisting the unemployed youth to get lucrative job opportunities in government, public and private sectors. With the hi-tech facilities at their disposal, these Bureaus would also be instrumental in guiding the young entrepreneurs to set up their ventures, the Chief Minister added.

Notably, the Department of Employment Generation and Training has organized Mega Job Fairs at district level from November 12 to 22, where 16,000 youth had been provided jobs as per their qualifications, with another 16,000 shortlisted for the various employment openings. Apart from these, the department has also provided assistance to about 1500 youth for several self-employment ventures. Nearly 4 Lac jobs have been provided so far under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme since April last year after the incumbent government took over.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the citizen-centric Bilingual Portal Website and Android Mobile Application under Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM). The portal and app are fully equipped with options, information and interactive features to further improve Citizen-Government interface through E-Governance.

Appreciating the initiative of PSDM, the Chief Minister said the online portal would go a long way in ensuring prompt delivery of public services in an efficacious manner on the one hand and make governance far more transparent and accountable on the other. He said the portal would also be beneficial in providing good governance and enhancing the ambit of skill development schemes in a result oriented and meaningful manner.

Meanwhile, Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi apprised the Chief Minister that the object of the online platform was to streamline the office processes and systems for improved performance in service delivery and to extend the outreach of skill development schemes.

The Chief Minister was also informed that all relevant information, related to details of all the schemes being implemented by the PSDM in the state, would be available on this online portal. Information concerned with Skill courses being run by the PSDM would also be visible month wise/district wise/sector wise/Training Partner (TP) wise.

The portal would also facilitate youth for enrolment in skill training and also impart information regarding candidates who have been successfully placed or facilitated for self-employment ventures.

Keeping pace with emerging technologies and changing needs of the youth, the portal would be synced with the social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) of the Skill Development Mission to enable the youth for seeking requisite information for various skill training programmes initiated by the mission in collaboration with training partners. For the convenience of the youth, these online tools would help in selecting the location of the nearest Training Centre, listed district wise and TP Wise.

There are at present more than 150 Training Centres across the state. The list of the empanelled TPs arranged district wise and details of schemes being implemented by them is also available on the online platform. Currently, there are over 130 TPs in the state. All the users/candidates can also be digitally notified about the Rozgar/Job melas and initiation of various courses in the district through this portal.

Prominent amongst who were present on the occasion were Cabinet Ministers Charanjit Singh Channi & Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Media Advisor to CM Raveen Thukral, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLAs Rakesh Pandey, Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Singh Vaid & Lakhbir Singh Lakha, Special Principal Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, DC Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill and Additional Director Employment Generation & Training Rajdeep Kaur.
