Canal Based Water Supply project: MLA Chhina kick starts projects worth Rs 21 crore for construction of OHSRs and for laying water supply lines
Moving forward under the world bank (WB) and AIIB funded canal based water supply project, Ludhiana South MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina inaugurated projects worth around Rs 21 crore to construct three overhead water reservoirs (OHSR) and to lay associated water supply lines in the Giaspura area on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, July 9, 2025: Moving forward under the world bank (WB) and AIIB funded canal based water supply project, Ludhiana South MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina inaugurated projects worth around Rs 21 crore to construct three overhead water reservoirs (OHSR) and to lay associated water supply lines in the Giaspura area on Wednesday.
While the three OHSRs would be constructed in Rose Garden, Giaspura and adjoining areas, the associated water supply lines would be installed in adjoining 8 kms area.
The officials of Ludhiana Urban Water and Wastewater Management Limited and the staff of the contractor were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina stated that the state government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed for betterment of the state. The first phase of the canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works). Under this canal based water supply project, OHSRs are being constructed in different parts of the city.
MLA Chhina stated that the officials have been directed that there should be no compromise with the quality of work and the works should be completed within stipulated time period.
