Canal based water supply project: MLA Bagga lays foundation stone for construction of overhead water reservoir and installation of associated pipeline

Ludhiana, November 13, 2025: Moving forward under the world bank funded canal based water supply project, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga inaugurated projects worth around Rs 4 crore for construction of overhead water reservoir in Bhai Manna Singh Nagar and installation of associated pipeline on Thursday.

While the overhead water reservoir would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 3 crore, the associated water supply pipeline would be installed at a cost of around Rs 1 crore.

Councillor Aman Bagga, Councillor Aradhna Atwal, Surinder Atwal, Councillor Pushpinder Bhanot, Councillor Neeraj Ahuja, Councillor Manjit Singh Dhillon among other residents and industrialists were present during the inauguration ceremony.   

MLA Bagga stated that under the canal based water supply project, a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being constructed in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city. The first phase of the canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works). This project will also help in saving the ground water.

MLA Bagga further stated that working under the guidance of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is committed to establish quality infrastructure. 

People-centric projects are being taken up to facilitate the public at large. A large number of development projects worth crores are being taken up in Ludhiana North constituency to ensure sustainable development, added MLA Bagga.
