Canal based water supply project: Mayor Inderjit Kaur lays foundation stones for projects worth Rs 24.71 crore for construction of four overhead water reservoirs and installation of associated pipeline

Ludhiana, October 4, 2025: Moving forward under the world bank funded canal based water supply project, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Chairman of cooperative sugar mill Budhewal, Jorawar Singh kick started projects worth around Rs 24.71 crore for construction of four overhead water reservoirs and installation of associated pipeline on Saturday.
The four overhead water reservoirs would be constructed in BSUP flats, Ram Nagar; 34 acre scheme of Focal Point area; Jeevan Nagar and Durga colony in Dhandari.
While the overhead water reservoirs would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 14.16 crore, the associated water supply pipeline would be installed at a cost of around Rs 10.55 crore.
Councillor Anita Nanchahal, Sarpanch Daljit Kaur, Karan Nanchahal, Sarabjit Singh, Rajeev Lala, Rashpal Singh, Vikramjeet Singh Rajput, Tejinder Singh Mitthu and representatives of Focal Point association were present during the inauguration ceremonies.
Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur stated that under the canal based water supply project, a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being constructed in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city. The first phase of the canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works).
Mayor Inderjit Kaur expressed gratitude to Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann for his strong leadership and commitment for providing quality facilities to the citizens. A large number of development projects worth crores are being taken up in the city for ensuring sustainable development.
