Ludhiana, February 25, 2026: Committed to ensure potable water supply to every household, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal inaugurated a Rs 4.5 crore project for establishing an overhead water reservoir and to lay associated pipeline in New Moti Nagar on Wednesday.
The overhead water reservoir is being established in Vishwakarma park, New Moti Nagar.
Accompanied by councillor Amarjeet Singh, Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MLA Grewal stated that the overhead water reservoir would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 3.5 crore, while the associated water supply pipeline would be laid at a cost of around Rs 1 crore.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MLA Grewal stated that a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being established in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city.
The first phase of the canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works). Overhead water reservoirs are also being constructed in other areas of the city.
MLA Grewal and Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that state government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed for the betterment of the state and major people-centric projects have been launched to facilitate the residents at large.
They directed the concerned officials to complete the project within stipulated time period and take all necessary measures to ensure safety of residents while taking up the project.
Assistant Engineer Jarnail Singh, Communication Specialist Jaspreet Singh, Ramesh Kumar Pinka, Surinder Singh Bitta, Charanjeet Singh Monu, Kulwant Singh Pardhan, Angrej Singh, Jatinder Singh Kaka, Rajinder Singh Nagra, Mohit Sood, Inderjeet Singh, Ranjit Singh Gill, Sonu Verma among others were present during inauguration ceremony.
