Ludhiana, November 21, 2025: With the Punjab Government working to ensure potable water supply to residents, Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal laid foundation stone for establishing an overhead water reservoir and installation of associated pipeline in Sukhdev Nagar, Bhamian road under the World Bank funded canal based water supply project on Friday.

The estimated cost of the works is around Rs 3.62 crore. While the overhead water reservoir would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 2.12 crore, the associated water supply lines would be laid at a cost of around Rs 1.5 crore.

MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal stated that the first phase of the world bank and AIIB funded canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works). 

Under this project, a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being constructed in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city. 

MLA Grewal further stated that this project is among many other initiatives which are being taken for ensuring sustainable development. Chief Minister (CM)  Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is committed to overall development of the state. This project will also help in saving the ground water for our coming generations. 

Ankur Gulati, Gurdeep Singh Dhingra, Chirag, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Naseeb Singh, Mahavir Pardhan among others were also present during the ceremony.
