Canadian International School community undertake ‘Joy of Sharing’ drive for under-privileged

Bangalore, December 15, 2023: In keeping with the spirit of the Christmas season, Canadian International School (CIS), Bangalore, organized a donation drive at the school involving students, teachers, and the community. This year’s drive, the “Joy of Sharing,” brought together the entire community at CIS from elementary to high school and the beneficiary NGOs, Headstreams and the Anantapur Sports Academy, both of whom work with under-privileged people.

As part of the initiative, students learned about work each of the organizations focus on and how students could support their work through donations. Students and parents donated goods and funds to these two NGOs which included toys, books, stationary, non-perishable food items, clothes amongst others. The first of the donations was recently handed over to Headstreams at the CIS campus in Yelahanka. Around 320 kgs of goods and Rs 20,000 funds were collected as part of this noble initiative.

"It was a great experience learning how to coordinate a donation drive that benefits families in need. We had the opportunity to donate a variety of goods to beneficiaries, and by this, we learned a lot about the concept of ‘Joy of Sharing. We students also benefitted, as it helped us improve our own organisational skills." said Riana, Grade 11 student, Canadian International School, Bangalore

Commenting on the drive, Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School, Bangalore, said: “The idea of this drive is to spread joy for people in need. CIS students got an opportunity to organize the drive and learn the value of service. Giving back to the community is part of what helps the entire community reach its vision of nurturing, challenging, and empowering its students to build a sustainable future.”
