Canadian International School, Bangalore Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Its IBDP Program with the Class of 2025 Graduation

Bangalore, May 26, 2025: The Canadian International School (CIS), Bangalore celebrated a landmark occasion, as it hosted the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of CIS offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) - the first school in Bangalore to do so. This silver jubilee year marks a proud chapter in CIS’s legacy as a pioneer in international education in India.

Under the heartfelt theme “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” the event honored the journey, achievements, and aspirations of 79 graduating students, each of whom has left a lasting mark on the school community.

A standout moment of the ceremony was the Valedictorian Award being jointly presented to identical twin sisters, a first in CIS history. Their shared speech celebrated the strength of sibling bonds and the importance of collaboration, earning a standing ovation from attendees.

This year’s graduating cohort earned a collective $3 million USD in merit-based scholarships, a reflection of both academic excellence and the strong support systems at CIS. Students received offers from prestigious universities around the world, demonstrating the school’s global outlook and commitment to preparing students for success on every continent.

In the United States, students gained admission to elite institutions including Brown University, University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins University, and many others. Across the Atlantic, CIS students earned placements at top UK universities such as the London School of Economics, King’s College London, and Loughborough University. Closer to home, students have been accepted to leading Indian institutions including Ashoka University, BITS Pilani and several prestigious others. Additionally, graduates will be attending University of Hong Kong and renowned Australian universities like the University of Sydney and the University of Western Australia, among others.

“This graduation marks a dual celebration—our students' outstanding achievements and 25 years of delivering the IBDP, which continues to set the gold standard for global education,” said Shweta Sastri, Managing Director of CIS. “We are honored to have led the way in Bangalore and beyond, and we look forward to continuing to nurture globally-minded, compassionate leaders.”

“In the words of Rabindranath Tagore, ‘the one who plant trees, knowing he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.’ The sacrifices families make for their children, and the lessons learned for our children to grow and plant trees knowing they will never enjoy the fruits of their labour is the very essence of humanity. We are proud; humbled and honored to have had the time nurturing, challenging, and empowering our students who now go off into the world to contribute to the greater good of all humankind,” Dr. Ted Mockrish, Head of School, CIS.

CIS has been the most amazing experience and it has taught us to be who we are and never change ourselves for anyone else, said Anusha, Valedictorian.

I think the best thing about our batch is that we are all so uniquely different and boldly so and that's what we must all strive to be, said Ananya, Valedictorian.

The Class of 2025 departs with more than just academic accolades—they carry memories, friendships, and values that will guide them forward. The day was filled with celebration, gratitude, and the promise of bright futures ahead.
