Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond honours 100 women entrepreneurs in Khanna
11700 women entrepreneurs will be facilitated in 117 assembly constituencies of Punjab
Khanna, March 7, 2026: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Saturday honoured 100 women entrepreneurs by giving them cash amounts, Phulkari, certificates, etc under the initiative Apna Karobar, Apni Pehchan.
Sond stated that women entrepreneurs have not only shouldered their family duties but have also made special contributions to advance in the social sphere. For example, the women work in Self Help Groups or individually in activities such as embroidery, making pickles, hand bags, bakery work, stitching children's uniforms, and hundreds of such tasks. The Aam Aadmi Party government has decided to honor 100-100 women entrepreneurs at the block level in this series to encourage women's empowerment.
Sond added that a total of 11,700 women entrepreneurs will be facilitated at the block level in Punjab's 117 assembly constituencies. He informed that on March 18, 100-100 women from each of Punjab's 23 districts—who have contributed to Punjab's development—will be selected and honoured by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann with certificates, mementos, and cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each.
The Minister also thanked all the officers of the department who have planned programs at all 117 assembly constituencie. He added that all mothers and sisters have gathered and honoured. This event is part of a broader Punjab government initiative under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission to empower rural women through Self Help Groups, with large-scale honours planned across the state.
