Cabinet Minister Sond Hands Over Property Cards to 447 Families in Villages Mahindipur and Ikolahi Under ‘Mera Ghar-Mere Naam’ Scheme

Khanna (Ludhiana), October 24, 2026: Under the Punjab Government’s public welfare initiative, the ‘Mera Ghar-Mere Naam’ scheme, a total of 447 families in Mahindipur and Ikolahi villages of the Khanna Assembly constituency have been granted ownership rights to their residential houses. As part of this initiative, carried out under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Minister and Khanna MLA Tarunpreet Singh Sond handed over property cards to 125 families in Mahindipur village and 322 families in Ikolahi village.
On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that the main objective of the ‘Mera Ghar-Mere Naam’ scheme, launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is to provide eligible families living within the Lal Lakir (red line) with legal ownership rights to their houses. He said the scheme is an important step towards giving people official recognition and security for their properties.
He said that many families in Punjab’s villages had been living within the Lal Lakir for decades. However, the absence of official ownership records had caused them several difficulties. By providing ownership documents to these families through this scheme, the government has opened the way to resolving their problems.
Sond said that after receiving ownership rights, people would be able to maintain and improve their homes better and plan for their future with greater confidence. Property cards would also make it easier to buy and sell property and carry out other property-related transactions. He said this initiative would further strengthen the rights, dignity and self-confidence of families living within the Lal Lakir.
On this occasion, the beneficiaries who received property cards thanked the Punjab Government and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond. They said that receiving ownership documents had given them greater security regarding their homes and renewed confidence in their future.
Among those present on the occasion were Market Committee Khanna Chairman Jagtar Singh Gill, Block Samiti Khanna Chairman Lakhvir Singh Gill, Zila Parishad member Master Avtar Singh Daihru, OSD Karun Arora, PA Mahesh Kumar, Kanungo Parminder Singh, Patwari Harshan Kaur, Sarpanch Surjit Singh and youth leader Karan Verma, along with a large number of village residents.
