Cabinet Minister Sond Hands Over Property Cards to 383 Families in Jalajan and Mahaun Under ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ Scheme

Khanna, October 25, 2026: Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond today distributed property cards to a total of 383 families in the villages of Jalajan and Mahaun, falling under the Khanna Assembly constituency, under the ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme. On the occasion, 226 families in Jalajan and 157 families in Mahaun received documentary recognition of ownership of their residential houses.
Cabinet Minister Sond said that receiving documentary proof of ownership of homes where several generations of a family have lived is a moment of great confidence and satisfaction for the families. He said that a home is not merely a structure made of bricks and walls; it represents a family’s hard work, memories and the future of generations to come.
The minister said that many families in villages have been living within the Lal Lakir (red boundary line) for generations. However, the absence of formal ownership records has often created difficulties for them. The ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme is an important initiative aimed at providing eligible families with documentary recognition of ownership of their homes.
He further stated that clear property ownership records give families greater confidence in maintaining and improving their homes and planning for the future. The Punjab Government is continuously working to ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries, keeping people's needs and concerns in mind.
Cabinet Minister Sond appealed to the beneficiaries to preserve their property cards carefully and verify the names and property details recorded in them. In case of any discrepancy, they should contact the concerned officials and get the necessary corrections made in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Minister Sond said that the remaining eligible beneficiaries in the Khanna constituency would also receive their property cards soon. This would ensure that every eligible family has clear documentation regarding the ownership of its home and can plan for the future with greater confidence.
Among those present on the occasion were Jagtar Singh Gill, Chairman of Market Committee Khanna; Lakhvir Singh Gill, Chairman of Block Samiti Khanna; OSD Karun Arora; Advocate Manreet Singh Nagra; youth leader Karan Verma; Dilpreet Benipal officials of the Revenue Department; representatives of the Gram Panchayats of Jalajan and Mahaun; and a large number of village residents.
