Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora launches ₹4.10 crore road projects in Ludhiana
₹1300 crore road infrastructure upgrade underway across Punjab
Ludhiana, April 4, 2026: Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure, Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power, Sanjeev Arora, on Saturday launched multiple road construction projects worth ₹4.10 crores across Ludhiana West with a length of around 8 Kms.
The projects span several wards of the Ludhiana West constituency. These include construction of streets in New BRS Nagar, Sham Nagar and New Sham Nagar (Ward 56) at a cost of approximately ₹71 lakh. Additionally, works for main roads in Block-J and Block HJ of Rajguru Nagar, road from Lodhi Club to Namdev Chowk, and a slipway near the underpass (Ward 58) have been initiated at a cost of around ₹96.89 lakh.
Further, projects include construction of streets in Block-E of BRS Nagar (Ward 57) near Lodhi Club worth ₹55.77 lakh, and development of the main road connecting Zone-D office of MC to Ferozepur Road in Sarabha Nagar (Ward 55) at an estimated cost of ₹73.08 lakh.
Another major project involves construction of streets in Officers Colony and adjoining areas of Rakh Bagh (Ward 71) at a cost of approximately ₹1.13 crore.
Cabinet Minister directed officials to ensure timely completion of all works, stressing that no compromise will be tolerated on quality standards. He warned that contractors found guilty of substandard work will be blacklisted, and emphasized that contractors will be responsible for maintenance of roads for three years.
Highlighting the broader vision of the government led by National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Minister stated that Punjab is steadily progressing towards building a vibrant ‘Rangla Punjab’.
He informed that projects worth approximately ₹1300 crore are currently being executed to upgrade road infrastructure across Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils in the state. In addition, departments like PWD and Rural Development & Panchayats are also undertaking large-scale development works in their respective jurisdictions.
During the inauguration, the Minister was accompanied by Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta, senior officials of the Municipal Corporation, elected representatives, and prominent citizens.
