Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora inaugurates multiple development projects worth Rs 1.74 crore to boost infra and encourage sports

Ludhiana, March 20, 2026: In a major boost to the infrastructure and encouraging sports among youth, Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Industries & Commerce, Power and Investment Promotion, Sanjeev Arora inaugurated different development projects worth around Rs 1.74 crore in the city on Friday. 
The projects inaugurated on Friday included a multi-purpose sports park near Children Day (backside civil hospital) established at a cost of around Rs 91 lakh; redeveloped Vishwakarma Park on Jaimal Singh road at a cost of around Rs 38 lakh and laying of sewer lines in SAS Nagar backside Dholewal military complex at a cost of around Rs 45 lakh.  
Cabinet Minister stated that the multi-purpose sports park has been established by transforming the site which was lying in ruins for decades and used as a garbage dumping site. Four grounds have been established in the sports park including a cricket ground (box cricket), Pickleball, Volleyball and Basketball. The sports park has been established at a cost of around Rs 91 lakh. 
Quality sports infrastructure has now been established at the site which will develop the culture of sports among youth and push them away from the menace of drugs. The sports facility would be available free of cost for the residents. While inaugurating the sports park, Cabinet Minister also played sports with youngsters.
Later, Cabinet Minister inaugurated the redeveloped Vishwakarma park on Jaimal Singh road (on Gill road). Badminton and Basketball courts have also been established in the park to promote sports and healthy living. The park has been redeveloped at a cost of around Rs 38 lakh.
Further, Cabinet Minister launched the project to lay sewer lines in Sahibjada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar situated at the backside of Dholewal military complex. The project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 45 lakh.  
Cabinet Minister stated that the state government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to ensure sustainable development across the state. Development projects worth crores are also being taken up across the city to develop quality infrastructure at large.
Developing sports infrastructure is part of the bigger goal to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society 'Yudh Nashyan Virudh' and encourage the youth towards sports and healthy living. 
Cabinet Minister further stated that they are also taking up comprehensive project to upgrade electricity infrastructure across the state. People-centric projects are being launched by the state government and feedback is being taken from residents too.
MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta, Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, ADC Manjeet Singh Cheema, Joint Commissioner Amanpreet Singh, Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur, Zonal Commissioner Gurpal Singh, councillor Simranpreet Kaur, Surinder Kaur Manna, Sohan Singh Goga, Kapil Sonu among others were present during the inauguration ceremonies.
