Cabinet Minister- Industries & Commerce, Information Technology, and Investment Promotion and Power visited Vardhman Textile Limited to interact with the members of the Textile and Weaving Committee constituted by the State Government to give recommendations for the growth of the textile and weaving industry in Punjab.

Ludhiana, October 02, 2025: Cabinet Minister- Industries & Commerce, Information Technology, and Investment Promotion and Power visited Vardhman Textile Limited to interact with the members of the Textile and Weaving Committee constituted by the State Government to give recommendations for the growth of the textile and weaving industry in Punjab.

S.P.Oswal, CMD of Vardhman Group welcomed him along with other members of the committee present at the occasion including Abhishek Gupta from Trident Group, Amit Thapar-Ganga Acrowools, Amit Jain-Shingora Textiles, Sambhav Oswal-Nahar Spinning Mills, Priyanka Goyal-Member, Associated Industrial Association, Amritsar and others.

S.P.Oswal thanked him for constituting Textile and Weaving Committee to study in detail the issues confronting the textile industry in the state and also given an overview of the growth of the textile industry in Punjab from pre-independence era to its present status. The role of hosiery industry and especially entrepreneurs-The linchpin, in the development of the textile value chain in the state shared with Minister.  The renewable power related issues like higher banking requirement and consumer friendly open access provisions are also briefed to the Minister. The Committee members also shared in details the various challenges faced by the textile industry in the state and the  recommendations given in the report to overcome these challenges. 

Minister has exchanged Dusshera wishes with all present there. The Minister has  taken keen interest in the issues highlighted by members of the committee and assured all possible help to overcome the same.  He also highlighted the action taken by the Government of Punjab in making state of Punjab industry friendly and projects in pipeline in this regard. He emphasised that the Government is working on detailed action plan to eliminate unscheduled power cuts especially due to transmission lines imposed on consumers.

Minister also shared that to promote investment, the  Government is focusing on faster clearance of projects. Under Single window system, the new project within focal point area will be approved within 5 days, outside focal point within 15 days, expansion within 18  days and projects in red/orange zones will be cleared within 45 to 60 days.

At the end, all members thanked him for his kind visit and hoped that under his dynamic leadership, the industry’s concerns will be addressed.
