Cabinet Minister Mundian reviews development works, directs officials to expedite projects
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Tuesday reviewed the progress of on-going development works of district and directed the officials to accelerate the pace of execution to ensure timely completion of projects for the benefit of residents.
Ludhiana, June 9, 2026: Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Tuesday reviewed the progress of on-going development works of district and directed the officials to accelerate the pace of execution to ensure timely completion of projects for the benefit of residents.
During the review meeting, the Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, GLADA Chief Administrator Ojasvi Alankar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Narinder Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar and senior officials from various departments.
Mundian took stock of the ongoing work on the Ludhiana-Rahon Road and instructed officials of the Public Works Department to complete the project at the earliest. He emphasised that issue of sewer water accumulation on Rahon road would also be resolved soon. He informed that tenders for desilting the sewer system would be floated shortly to improve drainage and prevent waterlogging in the area.
Officials informed the Minister that the work on four animal pathways had been completed on Rahon road, while the construction of approach roads was in its final stages. The process of shifting electricity poles would also commence soon to facilitate smoother road widening and infrastructure development.
The cabinet minister also reviewed the progress of flood protection works in villages located near the Sutlej River. He directed the concerned departments to complete the strengthening of embankments and other protective measures without delay, especially in view of the upcoming monsoon season.
Besides roads and flood protection, Mundian held detailed deliberations on infrastructure projects. This included status of upcoming Aam Aadmi Clinics, upgradation of government schools, construction of gyms and community halls, issues related to PSPCL, roads, drains and water supply systems, ongoing projects under GLADA and etc.
The Minister reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure and public services. He stressed that all departments must work in coordination to ensure that development works are completed within stipulated timelines. He stated that delays in civic projects directly affect citizens. All officials have been asked to maintain pace and complete projects in a time-bound manner,” the Minister added.
To ensure effective implementation, the Minister asked departments to submit regular progress reports and conduct frequent site inspections. He added that transparent monitoring and inter-departmental coordination were essential for delivering quality infrastructure to the people.
