Ludhiana, May 21, 2025: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today led Nasha Mukti Yatra events in Bhamia Kalan, Bhamia Khurd and Shanti Vihar as part of the Punjab government’s Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign to eradicate the drug menace from the state.
Addressing large gatherings, the Cabinet Minister reiterated the state’s resolute commitment to making Punjab drug-free and ensuring a brighter future for its youth.
Minister Mundian declared, “No drug peddlers will be allowed to set foot in Punjab anymore. The people of Punjab will no longer provide guarantees to bail out these criminals. Drugs will soon become a thing of the past.” He strongly criticized previous governments for their inaction, stating, “Past administrations did nothing to control the drug problem. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government is taking decisive action to root out this menace, he added.
During the events, Minister Mundian also administered an oath to villagers, urging them to act as guardians of their communities and report drug-related activities to the authorities. He emphasized the government’s two-pronged strategy of cracking down on drug traffickers while providing rehabilitation and support for those struggling with addiction.
The Minister also highlighted recent successes in the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign, noting that Punjab Police have arrested thousands of drug peddlers, including major traffickers, and seized significant quantities of drugs and drug money. “Our resolve is unshakable, and with the support of Punjab’s people, we will transform the state into a vibrant, drug-free society,” he added.
