Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian inaugurates modern steel cover shed at Sahnewal new grain narket
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art steel cover shed at the Sahnewal New Grain Market. The facility has been constructed at a cost of Rs 93.44 lakh and will provide much-needed protection and convenience to farmers during the grain procurement season.
Sahnewal (Ludhiana), April 8, 2026: Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art steel cover shed at the Sahnewal New Grain Market. The facility has been constructed at a cost of Rs 93.44 lakh and will provide much-needed protection and convenience to farmers during the grain procurement season.
The newly installed shed features a durable steel structure designed to shield harvested grains from adverse weather conditions, including heavy rains, hailstorms, and etc. This infrastructure will ensure better quality preservation of crops, particularly wheat, paddy and etc.
Minister Mundian emphasized the Punjab government's commitment to supporting the farmers. He added that this steel cover shed will prove highly beneficial for our hardworking farmers. It will safeguard their precious grains from rains and other weather uncertainties, while also offering a comfortable space for them to rest at the market,” he stated. He further added that such initiatives reflect the Punjab government's focused efforts to strengthen infrastructure and make grain markets more farmer-friendly.
Market Committee Chairman Hemraj Raji, along with other prominent leaders and officials, was present during the inauguration ceremony. The farmers also welcomed the new facility and added that it will bring relief during procurement season.
