Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian highlights transformative changes government education sector
Punjab’s Education sector has undergone an unprecedented and historic transformation since the Aam Aadmi Party formed its government in 2022, declared Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Saturday.
Ludhiana, February 7, 2026: Punjab’s Education sector has undergone an unprecedented and historic transformation since the Aam Aadmi Party formed its government in 2022, declared Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Saturday.
Addressing a massive Parents-Teachers Meeting (Mega PTM) organized at government schools in the Jamalpur Awana, the Minister emphasized that the government considers the wellbeing and bright future of every student to be its highest priority. He stated that consistent and focused efforts have been made to bring the quality of education in government schools at par with leading private institutions.
Minister Mundian highlighted several flagship initiatives that are reshaping school education across Punjab including Schools of Eminence which are being developed as centres of excellence with world-class infrastructure. These schools feature smart classrooms, well-equipped computer and science laboratories, spacious playgrounds for multiple sports, high-quality libraries, full CCTV coverage, modern sanitation facilities, and safe drinking water systems, among other amenities. To broaden students’ horizons, the government has been regularly organizing educational tours and exposure visits to important institutions, historical sites, science centres and industries. Additionally, the innovative Business Blasters program launched to inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset among government school students from an early age, preparing them for future leadership in business and innovation.
Further in a major capacity-building initiative of government school teachers and principals have been sent for advanced training programs to reputed institutions in foreign countries. These international exposure visits aimed at equipping educators with global best practices in pedagogy, classroom management, technology integration and student-centred learning.
The Minister also shared encouraging data on public response to these reforms. He informed that admissions in government schools across Punjab have recorded a sustained increase, which reflect growing parental trust and confidence in the improved quality and facilities being provided in government schools.
Mundian informed that we had promised to make government schools the first choice of every parent and today, that dream is turning into reality.
