Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian distributes Rs 86.40 lakh cheques to 72 families for Pucca Houses
In a meaningful initiative to support families devastated by last year’s floods, Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today distributed cheques worth Rs 86.40 lakh to 72 affected families of Sahnewal constituency, enabling them to reconstruct strong, permanent (pucca) houses.
Ludhiana, February 8, 2026: In a meaningful initiative to support families devastated by last year’s floods, Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today distributed cheques worth Rs 86.40 lakh to 72 affected families of Sahnewal constituency, enabling them to reconstruct strong, permanent (pucca) houses.
The cheque distribution ceremony was organised in Sahnewal in the presence of local Aam Aadmi Party leaders, flood-affected beneficiaries, public representatives and others.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian stated that a pucca house for every poor family is not merely promise for the Aam Aadmi Party — it is a firm commitment that we are fulfilling on the ground. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is working with complete dedication to ensure that no poor family is left without a safe and permanent roof over their head. He added that the financial assistance is of Rs 1,20,000, for per beneficiaries has been sanctioned. First instalment of Rs 30,000 released at the time of sanction of the house, Second instalment of Rs 72,000 released when construction reaches lintel level and third instalment of Rs 18,000 released upon full completion of the house. He emphasised that the government is ensuring complete transparency and prompt release of every instalment so that deserving families face no financial hardship or unnecessary delays in rebuilding their homes.
The Minister also urged all eligible families who have not yet applied under the scheme to come forward immediately and avail the benefit.
Additionally, highlighting another important public welfare initiative, Mundian appealed to the people to get themselves and their family members registered under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana so that they can receive free quality treatment up to Rs 10akh per family in empanelled hospitals without any financial burden during medical emergencies.
Several beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Punjab Government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for providing timely help in their hour of need and for giving them hope and strength to rebuild their lives.
