Cabinet Minister Aman Arora Strongly Condemns Lathi Charge on Students and Journalists at Panjab University
Central BJP Government Has Resort to Dictatorship to Suppress the Voice of Students: Aman Arora
Attack on Panjab University Is an Attack on Democracy; Punjabis Will Not Tolerate It: Aman Arora
Chandigarh, November 10, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora today strongly condemned the brutal lathi charge by Chandigarh Police on students protesting for the rights of Panjab University, leaders of farmers’ unions supporting them, and journalists who had reached the spot for coverage. He termed this police action a shameful and deliberate attempt to crush the democratic voice under the direction of the BJP-led Central Government.
Aman Arora said that today is a very unfortunate day for democracy. He said that Panjab University is not only the pride of Punjab but also of the entire nation. The way Chandigarh Police used force on students peacefully protesting to safeguard the rights of the University and on farmers who had reached there in support, he said, is extremely inhuman and condemnable.
Arora alleged that all this happened at the behest of the BJP-led Central Government. He said that the police not only used batons on the protestors but also fired water cannons and tear gas shells, due to which many students and journalists have been seriously injured. He said that targeting journalists who were trying to bring the truth and voices of the people to the public reflects the frustration of the BJP government.
The AAP President said that the BJP government is already determined to destroy the major institutions of the country, and whenever people raise their voices against it, they are silenced with batons. He said that the Punjab Government, the Aam Aadmi Party, and three crore Punjabis strongly condemn this dictatorial behaviour of the Central Government and warn that Punjabis will never tolerate such tyrannical actions.
