By-election to Jalandhar parliamentary constituency and MC elections in Punjab will decide fate of political parties for 2024 polls 

People of Punjab are expecting that the political parties can once again announce new freebies with new guarantees as the by-election to the Jalandhar parliamentary constituency and municipal corporation elections in Punjab can be announced at any time. Free bus travel for females is allowed in Punjab government buses. Besides, 300 units of electricity per month for domestic consumers are being given free of cost. Now, people are hoping for more announcements. They also hope for fulfilment of the past announcements made during the pre-assembly elections 2022 which are pending. 
Congress is the first political party to announce its candidate Karamjit Kaur widow of Santokh Singh Chaudhary for the Jalandhar parliament by-election. Karamjit Kaur has the experience by working shoulder to shoulder with Late Santokh Singh Chaudhary during the past elections and her son Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary is already MLA from Phillaur. Jalandhar parliament seat has been considered as strong hold seat of congress, the congress leaders are confident of having an edge over other political parties. The BJP candidate will be finalized by the party high command after the approval of the parliamentary board. BJP will be independently contesting from this seat this time. In the last parliament elections in 2019 BJP was in alliance with SAD (B) and the alliance candidate lost with a very thin margin of merely less than 19,500 votes. This time SAD (B) will be fielding its own candidate but it will be contesting this time with new alliance partner BSP. AAP- the ruling party in the state will make every possible effort to win from this seat. In-fact, future of all the parties is depending upon this seat for next parliamentary elections in the state. But the ultimate decision will be of the voters through their mandate. All the political parties are appointing political leaders as observers for the Jalandhar parliament seat. All the eyes are now on the announcement from ECI.
