Dharamshala, May 3, 2026: A passenger bus overturned in the Nurpur area of Kangra district on Sunday, leaving several people injured, four of them critically, officials said.

According to preliminary information, a private bus named ‘Devi Darshan’ was en route from Chamba to Una when the incident occurred near Niazpur, close to a local temple. The vehicle, carrying over 40 passengers, reportedly went out of control and overturned around 11:00 am.

Initial reports suggest that the driver may have suffered a cardiac arrest while driving, leading to the loss of control. The driver is among those critically injured.

Local residents were the first to respond, launching immediate rescue efforts and helping evacuate passengers from the overturned bus. All injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Nurpur, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and began an investigation into the incident. Authorities said the exact cause of the accident will be established after a detailed inquiry, while medical assistance is being provided to all the injured.
