Burn Ravana, but also root out inner evils: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini

Rohtak, October 20, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday urged people to eradicate evils such as hatred, corruption, drug abuse and discrimination alongside burning Ravana’s effigy, saying the true message of Vijayadashami lies in defeating the wrong within society and oneself.

Addressing a Vijayadashami event organised by the Sanatani Yuva Foundation in Rohtak, Saini said the festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil and justice over injustice. He witnessed a spectacular Ramayana-themed drone show featuring 300 drones and set fire to the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran. The event also featured devotional music by the Keshav Bhakti Rock Band.

Ram Rajya means dignity and equal opportunity

The chief minister said the vision of Ram Rajya meant dignity for the poor, justice for the vulnerable, safety for women and daughters, and equal opportunities for youth. Government schemes and good governance, he added, must reach the last person in society.

Drawing parallels from Hindu scriptures, Saini said Lord Narasimha ended Hiranyakashipu’s arrogance, Lord Ram defeated Ravana, and Lord Krishna delivered the message of the Bhagavad Gita at Kurukshetra. These episodes, he said, reinforce the enduring struggle between righteousness and evil.

Ayodhya temple fulfils centuries-old dream

CM Saini said the consecration of Ram Lalla in the grand temple at Ayodhya fulfilled a nearly 500-year-old aspiration of devotees, made possible under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

He added that the Haryana government remained committed to fulfilling its promises and was working on pending commitments. The state’s development, he said, would contribute to Modi’s vision of a developed India.

Former minister and senior BJP leader Manish Grover, among others, attended the event. The chief minister also welcomed the film Hanuman Ansh artists and expressed gratitude to the saints present on the occasion.
