Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation Project: MP Seechewal, Mayor Inderjit Kaur calls for strict action against violators; concerned officials to be held accountable

Calling for stern action against the violators still dumping cow dung or untreated industrial waste in the Buddha Dariya, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta held a meeting to review the progress under Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation Project at MC Zone D office on Friday.

Ludhiana, March 13, 2026: Calling for stern action against the violators still dumping cow dung or untreated industrial waste in the Buddha Dariya, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta held a meeting to review the progress under Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation Project at MC Zone D office on Friday. 
MP Seechewal stated that the concerned officials of various departments working under the project should also be held accountable, if they fail to act against the violators. 
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding proper functioning of sewer treatment plants (STP)/Effluent Treatment plants (ETP), lifting of cow dung from dairy complexes etc. 
ADC (D) Dr Narinder Dhaliwal, MC Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Joint Commissioner Amanpreet Singh, ACP Inderjit Singh among other officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board (PWSSB), PSPCL, Revenue, Irrigation department etc were present in the meeting.
MP Seechewal and Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that the contract for lifting cow dung from dairy complexes has been allotted and strict action should now be taken against those who have still been dumping cow dung in the Dariya. 
The PSPCL officials informed that FIRs have already been lodged against over 30 dairy owners in the past and fines of over Rs 18 lakh have been imposed for power theft. 
MP Seechewal directed the officials to further intensify the drive against the dairy owners dumping cow dung or dairy waste in the Buddha Dariya. 
Further MP Seechewal and Mayor Inderjit Kaur also directed the PPCB and civic body officials to keep strict vigil and take stern action against those dumping untreated industrial waste in the Buddha Dariya. 
Reiterating the commitment of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann to make 'Rangla Punjab', MP Sant Seechewal and Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that they are not against any industry or sector, but no one can be allowed to pollute the waters. It is high time that everyone should come together and make efforts to save the water bodies for our coming generations.
