Ferozepur, January 21, 2014: The BSF troops today recovered sixteen packets of heroin worth Rs.80 crore in the international market along with arms and ammunition following an exchange of fire near BOP Kassoke this morning.
Ajay Kumar Tomar, IG, BSF informed during a press conference today that after observing some suspicious movement across the fencing, BSF troops posted at BOP, Kassoke challenged the cross border intruders. The miscreants then open fired at the BSF outpost. The BSF jawans also retaliated and open fired. The intruders however managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Later, during the search operation launched by BSF jawans, sixteen packet contraband, one pistol, one magazine and six bullets were recovered.
Ajay Kumar Tomar further informed that BSF troops has succeeded in exterminating nine intruders during the last three months, trying to cross the border.
Besides praising the BSF troops, Ajay Kumar Tomar also praised the specialist Sniffer dog “Tyson” which played a very important role in the recovery of the contraband.
