BSF arrests two smugglers with heroin worth Rs.20.57 crore

Ferozepur, May 10, 2013: The jawans of BSF 143 Bn claim to have arrested two smugglers along with recovery of 4 kg 150 gm heroin at Ferozepur Indo-Pak Border.

Giving this information, DIG BSF Ravi Joseph Loku in a press conference said, the cost of recovery of heroine in the international market is Rs.20.57 crore.

Further giving the details DIG said,  a secret information was received by them that in the adjoining area of border out-post (BOP) Ram Lal, Pakistani smugglers are passing an consignment of heroin to the smugglers on Indian side.  On Thursday evening, when the BSF jawans had started the search operation of farmers working beyond the barbered wire, one packet of heroin was recovered from two smugglers.  On further interrogation, another four packets of heroin were found by the jawans of BSF 143 Bn at the designated place of the smugglers, weighing 4.150 kg. 

The arrested persons identified their names as Ranjit Singh alais Rana and Kashmir Singh resident of Basti Ram Lal, he added.

DIG also informed that the smugglers have admitted that the delivery of this heroin consignment has been given by the smugglers in Pakistan which they were bringing by hiding in tractor-trolley under ‘wheat chaff’.  

A case has been registered against the arrested smugglers besides confiscating the tractor-trolley used for carrying the heroin. 

The BSF in association with the police is further making investigation to get more clues about the more persons involved in the smuggling of this area.
