Brushstrokes Of Joy: Enactus PU spreads festive cheer with specially-abled at Samarth Jiyo

Chandigarh, October 14, 2025: Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University celebrated the true essence of Diwali through “Festival of Lights: Diya Art with Special Hearts”, a creative diya-painting workshop conducted in collaboration with Social Substance, Versatile Group Ludhiana, Corporate Sustainability Council WICCI and THE REEDS. The event was held at Samarth Jiyo, a residential care centre that supports individuals with diverse abilities. Prof Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus and President of CSC WICCI Chandigarh, shared that the initiative beautifully reflected the spirit of compassion, creativity and community engagement that defines Enactus.

The workshop was enriched by the gracious presence of the resource person, Puneet Madan, who is an internationally acclaimed artist and educationist whose inspiring journey continues to touch many lives, and Sanjeev Gupta, alumnus of Dr SSBUICET. Guided by Madan’s belief that “Art is the speech of the soul,” she infused the session with warmth, purpose and depth, creating a safe and joyful space where participants expressed themselves freely through colours.

The event witnessed team Enactus working hand in hand with the specially-abled, guiding them to express their inner worlds through vibrant colours and patterns. Each diya emerged as a radiant symbol, not only of Diwali’s light but also of the heartfelt bonds formed in that moment. Laughter and music filled the air, spreading festive cheer and creating an atmosphere brimming with warmth and togetherness. To add a sweet and personal touch, refreshments were served, completing the celebration with shared smiles and joy, shared Harshnoor, President of the Enactus team.

As part of its social responsibility efforts, the team also conducted a cloth-based sanitary napkin distribution drive and interacted with caregivers to spread awareness about green menstrual hygiene, informed Anjali, a General Body Member of the team. Anurag, Media Production Head, expressed that being part of this celebration was deeply moving. He said that joy multiplies when shared with the specially-abled. The love and laughter we witnessed will remain with us as a cherished memory of Enactus in action.

Expressing gratitude, Puja, General Secretary of Samarth Jiyo, thanked the Enactus team for making Diwali truly special for these children of God, emphasising that such inclusive activities greatly enhance their self-worth and confidence.
