Srinagar, July 15, 2026: Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, former MLA, and Chairman of the Punjab Rural Development Society, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing of senior National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Minister, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal.
Dr. Kamal, 84, who was widely respected for his steadfast commitment to his political ideals and public service, breathed his last in Srinagar on Tuesday following a brief illness.
Sharing his personal grief, Brahmpura stated, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sahib. I had the privilege of meeting him in Kashmir some years ago, and I was deeply impressed by his intellectual depth, his commitment to his principles, and his unwavering dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. His loss is not just for the National Conference family, but for the entire political landscape of the region."
"Dr. Kamal was a veteran of the old school of politics—a leader who was bold, articulate, and fiercely committed to the legacy of his family and party. Whether serving as a general physician in Tangmarg or as a Minister, he remained deeply connected to the grassroots. His contributions to the public life of Jammu and Kashmir will be remembered with respect," Mr. Brahmpura added.
Brahmpura extended his heartfelt condolences to National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the entire bereaved family. "In this hour of irreparable loss, my prayers are with the family. May the Almighty grant the departed soul eternal peace and give the strength to his loved ones to bear this heavy loss," he said.
