Books being released in Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.
Jalandhar, October 16, 2015: Two books authored by the noted Punjabi writer Dr.Waryam Sandhu were released recently in Lyallpur Khalsa college Jalandhar. In a brief function, the Joint Secretary of the College Management S. Jaspal Singh Waraich released these books which are the biographies of two freedom fighters - Kartar Singh Sarabha and Mewa Singh Lopoke - but which also throw light on Gadar Movement and its impact on the Indian freedom struggle. Sahitya Academy award winner Dr. Sandhu is a former teacher of the Punjabi department of the college.
Speaking on the occasion the college Principal Dr. G.S. Samra said that it was the duty of a nation is always to remember its martyrs, and these books were in fact a kind of tribute to the martyrs and patriots who laid down their lives for the country.
Addressing the present the head of the college Punjabi department Dr. Kulwant Singh Sandhu said that these books were quite informative from the perspective of history as they highlighted the hitherto unknown things about the Gadar Movement and its martyrs.
The occasion was witnessed by the presence of teachers and students of the College.
