Books not only enhance knowledge but also develop life skills: Sunit Mukherjee

Rohtak, October 30, 2025: Books not only enhance knowledge and provide entertainment, but also develop life skills. Books sensitize us and illuminate various aspects of life. These sentiments were expressed by Professor Sunit Mukherjee during a book club session at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at MDU.

The session was focused on Mitch Albom's popular book, "Tuesdays with Morrie." Sunit Mukherjee spoke in detail with students about Mitch Albom's inspirational book, "Tuesdays with Morrie." He explained that the book is a memoir by author Mitch Albom, describing his experience meeting his former sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz, every Tuesday and sharing the knowledge he gained from Professor Morrie on various aspects of life over these 14 Tuesdays.

Sunit Mukherjee explained that through this book, Professor Mori taught us that true happiness comes not from material things but from pursuing one's passion and living a meaningful life. In this book, Professor Mori discusses friendship, thirst, relationships, the importance of forgiveness, life's purpose, the significance of the present, and the acceptance of death. The book highlights the importance of humanity, love, intimacy, and relationships.

Following the book discussion, the session also included a mutual dialogue. Professor Sunit Mukherjee urged students to read at least one book each month in addition to the course books.
