BJP’s Trump Pleasing Policies Pushing India into Inflation Disaster; Common People & Farmers Crushed by Fuel Price Hike: AAP

Chandigarh, May 19, 2026: Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Tuesday criticised the BJP-led Central Government over the continuous hike in fuel prices, stating that the Modi Government’s failed foreign and domestic policies have pushed the country towards an unprecedented inflation crisis. The leaders said the Centre has weakened India’s economic sovereignty and burdened ordinary people with rising prices of fuel and essential commodities.
AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora stated that the soaring prices of petrol and diesel are a direct consequence of the Modi Government’s complete failure in policymaking at both domestic and international levels. “Despite making tall claims of turning India into a ‘Vishwaguru’, the Modi Government has failed to secure the country’s energy future. Over the last decade, fuel consumption has increased massively, but instead of strengthening domestic production and energy security, the Centre has increased India’s dependence on imports. This is nothing but a total collapse of the Central Government’s domestic and international policies,” Aman Arora said.
AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that the Modi Government has effectively handed over India’s economic control to US President Donald Trump through trade and oil agreements with America. “The AAP had already warned that fuel prices would rise sharply after India distanced itself from cheaper Russian oil under pressure from the United States. Within 24 hours of my warning, diesel prices have again increased by nearly one rupee. Earlier CNG, petrol and diesel prices were hiked. In the coming days, prices will rise even further, leading to massive inflation across the country,” Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said.
He further stated that the Modi Government has made India economically vulnerable by “kneeling before America”. “Modi has made Trump the ‘Sarpanch’ of India. The so-called India-US trade deal is nothing short of economic suicide for the country. The burden of America’s global conflicts and oil politics is now being imposed on the people of India,” Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal added.
Warning of serious consequences for Punjab’s farmers and common citizens, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that the fuel price hike would directly impact the agricultural sector ahead of the paddy sowing season beginning June 1. “As diesel becomes costlier, farmers’ expenses will skyrocket. Transport costs will rise, food items will become expensive, vegetables, pulses, clothes and every essential commodity will become unaffordable for ordinary people,” he said.
The AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson further stated that the Modi Government’s policies are “anti-farmer, anti-Punjab and anti-poor.” He demanded that the India-US trade agreement be scrapped immediately and that India resume importing cheaper oil from countries like Russia in the national interest.
AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang also criticised the BJP Government, stating that ordinary citizens are paying the price for the Centre’s failed foreign policy and political opportunism. “The BJP Government suppressed fuel price hikes during elections for political gains, but now the truth is coming out. The common man is suffering because of the Centre’s disastrous policies. Inflation and unemployment are already at historic highs, and now increasing fuel prices will further crush the poor and middle class,” the AAP MP said.
Malvinder Singh Kang further stated that India’s relationship with Iran, a long-standing strategic partner for oil and fertilizer imports, has suffered due to the Centre’s flawed diplomatic handling of global conflicts. “India depended heavily on Iran for affordable oil and fertilizers. The Modi Government failed to protect the country’s strategic and economic interests. As a result, fertilizers and essential goods will also become costlier,” he added.
The AAP leaders stated that the BJP Government is “looting the pockets of ordinary Indians” while protecting the interests of foreign powers and big corporations. They warned that if the Centre continues on the same path, the country could face an even deeper economic crisis in the coming months.
Demanding an immediate rollback of fuel price hikes, the AAP leaders urged people across the country to unite against what they described as the Modi Government’s “anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-national economic policies."
