'BJP winning despite Rahul Gandhi's lies and disinformation': HM Amit Shah on party's bypoll victories
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s performance in the Lok Sabha and Assembly bye-elections, saying that the party is "winning every election despite the lies and disinformation campaigns" of the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc.
New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s performance in the Lok Sabha and Assembly bye-elections, saying that the party is "winning every election despite the lies and disinformation campaigns" of the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc.
In Nagaon Parliamentary constituency bye-election in Assam, Devasish Sharma of the BJP beat Mohammed Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
In Nandigram Assembly constituency bye-election in West Bengal, Hasi Rani Rath of the BJP beat the nearest Congress rival Milan Pradhan.
In Rejinagar bye-election in West Bengal, Shankharavh Sarkar of the BJP beat Golam Nabi Azad of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party.
Meanwhile, NDA ally, AINRC, won the Thattanchavady bypoll in Puducherry.
In a post on social media platform X, Union Minister Amit Shah said: "The BJP, under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, continues to win elections one after another despite the lies and disinformation campaigns run by Rahul Gandhi and the INDI Alliance. The NDA's victories in the bye-elections in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, and the recently held local body polls in Rajasthan and Tripura, demonstrate that the people have completely rejected the INDI Alliance."
"Having lost their public support, these (Opposition) parties question institutions after every defeat, but the people have recognised their true character. This is why the people have once again delivered a thumping mandate, reaffirming their unwavering faith in the BJP," Union Minister Shah added.
The Union Home Minister congratulated the West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Tripura CM Manik Saha and Puducherry CM N. Rangasamy, along with all the state presidents and "dedicated" BJP workers.
Terming the victories as "spectacular", BJP President Nitin Nabin said that it has once again proven that the people of the country "stand firmly with the politics of development and good governance" under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Those who were trying to mislead the countrymen have once again been given a resounding response by the people through their votes," Nabin said on X while hitting out at the Opposition.
Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said on X: "Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the victorious candidates on the victory of BJP-NDA in the Assembly bye-elections of West Bengal and Puducherry, and the Lok Sabha bye-election in Assam."
"This support from the people reflects the trust in the progress of the country, good governance, and public service under the leadership of the honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji," he said, adding that this public support will further strengthen the resolve for a developed India.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the eight BJP Rajya Sabha candidates of the state for winning unopposed.
"I have full confidence that you all will make a significant contribution in realising the resolve of our esteemed Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for 'Developed India' and in giving new momentum to the nation's progress. At the same time, you will enhance the dignity of the Upper House," he said in a post on X.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta echoed, saying: "The unanimous election of BJP's eight Rajya Sabha candidates in Uttar Pradesh, the NDA's victory in the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, and the Thattanchavadi Assembly constituency in Puducherry are proof of the people's unwavering trust."
In a post on X, CM Gupta referred to the victory as a "resounding response to those anti-national forces who prioritise appeasement, dividing society, and pursuing political self-interest over the welfare of the people".
