BJP to Contest Alone in Punjab in 2027: Ashwani Sharma

Ludhiana, July 24, 2025: Punjab BJP’s newly appointed state working president, Ashwani Sharma, was given a grand welcome with drumbeats at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan in Ludhiana under the leadership of District BJP President Rajnish Dhiman. Party leaders and workers enthusiastically greeted Sharma on his arrival.
While addressing the media at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Sharma said that ever since the high command entrusted him with this new responsibility, he has been on a tour of Punjab, making tireless efforts to strengthen the BJP in the state.
Sharma declared that the BJP will contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections independently, just as it did during the 2022 Assembly elections and the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the party contested all seats on its own.
He asserted that party workers are fully energized and working hard to make the lotus bloom in the state. Speaking on the AAP government's campaign against drugs, Sharma criticized the government for misleading the people by targeting small offenders while letting the big fish escape.
Rajnish Dhiman said that Ashwani Sharma's appointment as working president would further strengthen the BJP in Punjab. Sharma has a long and dedicated history with the party — having previously served as Punjab BJP President, President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, and a member of the National Executive. Under his leadership, the BJP in Punjab had achieved significant success in various campaigns. Once again, the party has placed its trust in him with this major responsibility. Dhiman expressed confidence that the party would reach new heights under his leadership.
