Chandigarh, March 13, 2018: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for splurging public money on his Army of 19 Advisors, OSDs and other aides.

Stating that the 'Independent Soldier' was also behaving like an 'indisciplined soldier', Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP said that the mandate was to run the government through ministers and elected representatives but the Chief Minister was running the government by proxy through some ex-bureaucrats and other aides and was spending crores of exchequer for getting their services.

Terming the phenomenon as undemocratic, Chugh said the government being run now was a 'repeat but worst telecast' of Amarinder's own government that ruined Punjab from 2002 to 2007.

He said that some of the aides, who were bestowed upon status of a minister, were drawing salaries which exceeded the total emoluments paid by the state to the ministers.

The BJP leader alleged that Amarinder was running his government in his own inimitably feudal and dictatorial style thus blowing a severe blow to the established democratic norms.

Chugh said the state was being looted by inexperienced aides who were proving to be a liability but the Chief Minister like always, was having his own, despite being warned of the situations and the consequences.

"This was not the mandate. The mandate was to run the government in a democratic manner through elected representatives but Amarinder does not care a hoot," he said adding that the Chief Minister should honour the mandate and sentiments of people of the state.
