Rohtak/New Delhi, September 24, 2026: The BJP has overhauled its organisational setup in Haryana, appointing Pawan Rana as State General Secretary (Organisation) for Haryana and Delhi, in a move that puts a fresh leadership team in place in the state. Rana will be based in Delhi.
Rana's appointment comes a day after the BJP named Smriti Irani as Haryana in-charge, with Bhola Singh as co-in-charge. The latest move gives Rana the key organisational responsibility of Haryana in addition to Delhi, where he was already serving as State General Secretary (Organisation).
The reshuffle also marks the exit of Phanindranath Sharma from Haryana's organisational setup. Sharma, who was serving as the state's General Secretary (Organisation), has been shifted to Uttarakhand. The post is regarded as a crucial link between the party's political leadership and its organisational cadre.
The BJP's latest organisational changes cover 24 appointments across states and organisational units. The party has reassigned several senior organisational functionaries, including national joint general secretaries (organisation), state general secretaries and state joint general secretaries. All appointments take effect immediately.
For Haryana, the change assumes significance as the party prepares its organisational machinery for the next Assembly election cycle. The BJP had won the 2024 Haryana Assembly election and formed the government for a third consecutive term; the latest appointments now bring both the political-in-charge and organisational leadership changes in quick succession.
At the national level, Shivprakash has been assigned Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa, while Saudan Singh will oversee Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Dharampal has been given Uttar Pradesh, while Siddharthan will handle Himachal Pradesh.
The appointments are part of a wider BJP organisational exercise spanning several states as the party prepares for upcoming electoral battles.
