BJP Holds Dummy Municipal House, Alleges Discrimination and Corruption in Municipal Corporation

Ludhiana, August 4, 2026: BJP councillors, led by Bharatiya Janata Party Ludhiana District President Sunil Moudgil, staged a strong protest outside the Municipal Corporation's D-Zone office by holding a "Dummy Municipal House" to express their opposition to the functioning of the Municipal Corporation administration.
Addressing the media on the occasion, BJP District President Sunil Moudgil alleged that the Municipal Corporation administration is adopting a discriminatory approach towards wards represented by BJP councillors. He claimed that for the past nearly one and a half years, no new street lights have been installed and no new roads have been constructed in BJP councillors' wards. He further alleged that even patchwork on damaged roads has not been carried out, causing severe inconvenience to the public.
Moudgil also alleged that whenever BJP councillors submit development-related files to the Mayor, the files are accepted but no action is taken. He alleged that corruption is rampant in the Municipal Corporation. He further said that despite the ongoing monsoon season, Buddha Nullah has not been cleaned properly, resulting in waterlogging and other civic problems for city residents.
BJP President of the Municipal Councillors' Wing, Poonam Ratra, alleged that meetings of the Municipal House have become a mere formality. She claimed that whenever BJP councillors attempt to raise issues concerning the public in the House, they are interrupted by Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. Ratra further alleged that nepotism is also openly visible in the functioning of the Municipal Corporation.
Deputy Leader of the BJP Councillors' Wing Rohit Sikka said that the Bharatiya Janata Party would continue to raise issues concerning public welfare and would persist in its fight against the alleged corruption, discrimination and nepotism prevailing in the Municipal Corporation.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP Councillors' Wing Leader Poonam Ratra, Deputy Leader Rohit Sikka, Vipan Pallavi Vinayak, Suman Verma, Gaurav Jeet Gora, Ruby Goriyan, Ruchi Vishal Gulati, Anil Bhardwaj, Rajesh Mishra, other BJP councillors, and a large number of BJP workers.
