Ludhiana, August 25,2025: District BJP president Rajnish Dhiman on Sunday strongly countered the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations against the Modi government over the deletion of ration cards. Dhiman said that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government should “first look within” before blaming others, adding that the AAP regime itself had deprived lakhs of poor families of ration benefits.
He recalled that in 2022, soon after coming to power, the AAP government had cancelled nearly 13 lakh blue ration cards in Punjab. “The wheat which was earlier given at ₹2 per kg to the poor was also stopped by the AAP government. At that time, BJP launched a statewide struggle against this injustice,” Dhiman said.
Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the BJP leader remarked that the proverb “ulta chor kotwal ko daante” (the thief scolds the policeman) aptly fits the current situation. “Before blaming BJP, Bhagwant Mann should remember that it is his government which has failed to fulfill promises made to the people,” he said.
Dhiman further asserted that since 2014, the Modi government has introduced several welfare schemes for the poor and farmers, benefiting Punjab as well. “But since AAP came to power, it has deliberately obstructed the proper implementation of central schemes in Punjab,” he alleged.
Accusing the state government of corruption, Dhiman said: “For the past six months, the Mann government has been looting ration in the name of ration card KYC. Who is the real thief now? BJP has always worked honestly, but AAP leaders are snatching away the rights of the poor.”
He also accused AAP of misleading people by branding central government schemes as their own. “The very party that calls BJP a ration thief is itself the biggest thief of central schemes. The truth is that BJP is the well-wisher of Punjab, and people are now aware of it despite AAP’s false propaganda,” Dhiman added.
