Chandigarh, December 13, 2021: Chandigarh Congress on Tuesday accused BJP unit of Chandigarh of insulting city people by going back on all 15 promises the party made in its vision document in 2016.
In a statement issued here, Rajiv Sharma spokesman of Chandigarh unit of congress said that BJP has denigrated the sanctity of election manifesto as not only it did not fulfill any of the 15 promises it made but did not even try to take steps to implement them.
He said, BJP did not even try to convert all leasehold properties into free hold ones despite having their government in Delhi. The BJP totally failed to provide affordable residential houses for the people of Chandigarh during the last six years. They did not launch a single scheme to provide affordable houses.
He further stated that the BJP could not get the land allotted to Residential, Commercial, Government and Government institutions, Cultural, Social, religious institutions to Chandigarh Housing board for constructing affordable houses as per their promise no 3. Further, they went back on their other promise to allot residential houses to people in villages by getting the “Oustee Rehabilitation Plan” passed. Such a plan did not come on the agenda of the BJP for discussion, leave alone passing and implementing it, it was stated.
In addition to this, no new Community centres in newly developed sectors of Chandigarh in last few years. Another vote catching promise, which they failed to fulfill, was to provide Facilities under ‘Modern Model’ in all villages of Chandigarh, asserted Rajiv.
“On the contrary, the plight of the villages went from bad to worse in the last six years. Besides this, nothing was done in the Health sector, as promised.
It was further stated that no progress was made to start new Jan Aushadhi Centres in Hospitals and to establish new schools. The promised Film city is also nowhere to be seen,”
The BJP had promised beatification and renovation of existing roads and streets in the city. However, as the facts stand today, the condition of roads and parks in Chandigarh was never as bad in its entire history as it is today and the ranking of the city in sanitation has nosedived, remarked Rajiv.
The BJP promised to lay all electric wires in the city underground. This is not an MC function. But still BJP made this false promise to mislead the people he said adding all such indifference of the BJP shows the party's arrogance and its disdain for the voters. However, now the people have seen through it, which will be reflected in the election results on 27 December 2021.
