BJP claimed to have support of ten members in 17-members Dharamshala MC

Dharamshala: The newly elected body of Dharamshala Municipal corporation will choose its Mayor and Deputy Mayor on April 13 in Dharamshala. 

As per the elections results declared on 7th April of this 17-members, Corporation of Himachal BJP got 8 seats, Congress got 5 and 4 Independents too declared winners. To lead the corporation here a party must have a support of at least 9 members.
BJP claimed to have support of ten members in 17- members Dharamshala Municipal Corporation, after two independents joined the BJP camp.

Giving information the Forest Minister of the state Rakesh Pathania said, “I have discussed in detail about the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the Municipal Corporation with   eight BJP councillors and two independent councillors in Dharamshala on Saturday. Now BJP has got full support to make Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Dharamshala Municipal Corporation as two Independent councillors, Sarvchand and Dimple Has also agreed to give its support for the formation of the Municipal Corporation in association with the BJP.”

Rakesh Pathania said that the BJP has been ahead of the Congress in securing vote percentage in the municipal corporation Dharamshala elections and has shown the Congress way out of the municipal corporation. He said that BJP has always given priority to development and this campaign will be continued in future as well.

The outgoing Municipal corporation of this Smart city was led by Congress with its 13 members, whereas BJP had 4 members.
In the 4 corporations elections held on Wednesday, the Congress had absolute majority in Palampur and Solan municipal corporations while the BJP had majority in Mandi whereas in Dharamshala after winning 8 out of 17 seats BJP just fell short of one seat for majority.
