BJP betrayed Rohtak on development, farmers on MSP: Deepender Hooda
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Friday accused the BJP government of neglecting Rohtak’s development and failing farmers on minimum support price (MSP), alleging that 12.5 years of BJP rule had brought stalled projects and unfulfilled promises.
Rohtak, October 16, 2026: Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Friday accused the BJP government of neglecting Rohtak’s development and failing farmers on minimum support price (MSP), alleging that 12.5 years of BJP rule had brought stalled projects and unfulfilled promises.
Chairing the district’s DISHA meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Hooda said 125 of Rohtak’s 400 government schools had dilapidated buildings, while the budget provided for rebuilding only nine. He also flagged poor sports infrastructure, questioned the quality of work at Lakhan Majra stadium and alleged that the SAI boxing Centre of Excellence he had secured was operational largely on paper.
Questioning the delay in basic infrastructure, he said the government had failed to build a metalled road connecting Meham railway station even after 12.5 years. He accused the BJP of discriminating against Rohtak and directed officials to rectify shortcomings identified during the review.
MP Hooda alleged that farmers across Haryana were being forced to sell paddy and bajra below MSP amid inadequate procurement and poor lifting arrangements. He said bajra growers were facing a shortfall of ₹900–1,000 per quintal against the announced MSP of ₹2,900, while the government had not delivered on its promise of ₹3,100 MSP for PR-14 paddy.
“BJP looks after its electoral interests and makes false promises,” he said, demanding procurement of the entire paddy and bajra crop at MSP and either notification of the promised paddy price or payment of a bonus.
Targeting the government’s financial record, Deepender Hooda claimed Haryana’s debt had risen to around ₹5 lakh crore from ₹65,000 crore during Congress rule. He contrasted the previous government’s Metro expansion and power projects with what he described as a lack of Metro expansion under the BJP.
At the national level, he accused the Centre of selling public assets, favouring select industrialists and mishandling economic and foreign policy.
He later inaugurated the Vaishya Vyayamshala and Gaushala in Janta Colony.
