Ludhiana, November 7, 2014: Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha (BJGVJ) district Ludhiana hosted `winter on wheels and art caravan’ for the people affected with natural disasters. Winter on wheels is a truck journey around the country travelling around different places collecting winter material for the flood affected citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a citizen art caravan where different artists led by Akram Feroze and Poornima Sukumar are traveling in the truck and coordinating with various artists throughout the journey. It is India s most unique travel cum art cum humanitarian project across India which has so far covered a variety of street art and many more activities at Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jaipur, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Agra, Gurgaon, Delhi, Hisar and reached Ludhiana today. The group had an interactive session with the students and staff of the Govt. High School Sarabha Nagar to bring the awareness on natural disasters and communities coming together. The group performed Role Play theatres and Wall Graffiti along with students of school. Addressing the gathering in the school M S Bhatia – Organising Secretary BGJVJ said that this is first ever such initiative we have come across. He also informed that the jatha took initiative in sending relief material to Jammu & Kashmir in coordination with Indian Doctors for Peace and Development who had gone there as a medical team last month led by Dr Arun Mitra.
Kusum Lata, Headmistress of the school was highly appreciative of the Winter on Wheels group for the dedication and bold work. She asked the students to take inspiration from such dedicated people.
