Ludhiana, December 25, 2015: On the auspicious occasion of Christmas in order to spread the message of universal brotherhood and love among the people as taught by Lord Jesus Christ, Member Parliament and PPCC Campaign Committee Convener Ravneet Singh Bittu along with hundreds of citizens today took out a foot march from Durga Mata Mandir. The participants paid their obeisance at the Mandir, Gurudwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Jama Masjid, Peer Baba Mehal Ali Sarkar on Jail Road and also paid floral tributes to our martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru on Jagraon bridge. The march culminated at the Kalvari Church where all of the them joined the Christian community in a religious function. On their way they were welcomed warmly by the market associations, shopkeepers and the people in large numbers who offered the marchers tea and snacks.
Accompanied by the Deputy CLP leader and MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA Shri Surinder Dawar and all the office-bearers of District Congress Committee (Urban) led by Shri Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Lok Sabha Youth Congress led by Rajiv Raja and Mahila Congress led by Leena Taparia, Ramesh Joshi, Ishwarjot Cheema, Kulwant Sidhu, Hem Raj Aggarwal, Rakesh Prashar, Councillors Maharaj Singh Raji, Sanjay Talwar, Narinder Sharma Kala.
The march assumes significance in the backdrop of the recent incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Ramayan and Koran in various parts of the state which led to numerous protests, dharnas and agitations across the state. The killing of innocent protesters in Bargari and breakdown of law and order has given rise to the atmosphere of fear and tension among the people across Punjab. The agricultural crises and economic hardships leading to suicides among farmers and the distress among the business community
Ravneet said, we have prayed for the peace in Punjab and the prosperity of the citizens in the coming new year. He appealed to the people to support the secular Congress Party in the forthcoming elections to bring the state out of prevailing mess. The state is not in a position to afford any kind of experiment this time. The congress is the tried and tested party of the people which has always delivered with what it promises, he said.
He further said, the campaign committee will organise similar marches in other parts of the state in the coming months to send the message across that all the communities infact each and everyone is important for the development of Punjab.
