BIS Seizes 3 Tonnes of Aluminium Foil in Rohtak, Firm Lacked Mandatory Licence
The Haryana Branch Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Tuesday seized around 3 tonnes of aluminium foil worth an estimated ₹14 lakh from M/s Jainalco Industries Ltd in Rohtak for allegedly operating without a valid BIS licence.

Rohtak, August 25, 2026: The Haryana Branch Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Tuesday seized around 3 tonnes of aluminium foil worth an estimated ₹14 lakh from M/s Jainalco Industries Ltd in Rohtak for allegedly operating without a valid BIS licence.
According to BIS, the action was taken following a suspected violation of Section 17(3) of the BIS Act, 2016. During the search, officials found aluminium foil intended for medicinal use, covered under Indian Standard IS 16011. Despite the applicable Quality Control Order, the firm did not have a valid BIS licence for the product.
The enforcement team seized around 250 rolls of aluminium foil. The team comprised Scientific-C and Deputy Directors Anant Kumar and Saurabh Chandra, and Scientific-B and Assistant Director Manish Bisht.
BIS Haryana Branch Director and Head Madhurima Madhav said ensuring the quality of aluminium foil used for medicinal purposes was crucial from a public health perspective. She said BIS would continue enforcement action against violations of mandatory standards.
Further legal and enforcement action will be initiated under the BIS Act and relevant rules based on the evidence collected during the seizure.
